Today my husband and I have been dating for eight years! I can’t believe it, time is just flying by. It still surprises me that we are together, because we are so opposite. I know opposites attract, but I didn’t realize polar opposites attracted. For starters Benjamin was born in Florida, I was born in Alaska, that’s the furthest away anyone can get in the 50 United States. Since we first met, Benjamin pretty much has had the same goal, becoming a professional golfer. Me on the other hand, I think my goals have changed like 25 times. It’s ridiculous; I know, but I’m a female I can change my mind whenever I want (or so I feel like I can).
Another thing, he loves cars, and had a 1980 Stingray Corvette when we met. Some people thought I liked him for his car. Not true. I didn’t even know what it was until he came over to meet my family, and my brother, and sister came inside to tell the world that it was a Stingray Corvette, and how could I not know. Needless to say I was embarrassed as Benjamin looked at me and asked, “You don’t know what kind of car I drive?” I told him what I told my family, “I know it’s an old nice car.” lol I’m sorry, but I’m a truck girl, and the very first time I saw Benjamin I thought, “Why do guys like cars? Trucks are so much better”. But Benjamin had a truck as well…a little Chevy S10 that he used for his landscape business. Not the truck I was looking for, but it was a truck. Everything’s okay though, because after a year of marriage we bought our first truck together, Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Diesel. We still have it, and use it for work to pull a trailer for our business. Just the sound of Diesel (I name my vehicles) makes my heart go pitter patter!
We have a lot of things that are opposite of each other, but that would take all day, and several posts to write it all out. Not to fear, we do however have a couple things in common: Love God, love each other, and have a passion for animals, especially dogs. Have you not seen our four children? Click here to see their puppy pictures with their 2015 Thanksgiving pictures. The bonds of these three things keep us together like glue.
We have a day filled with ordinary things, but since were going to be together, it will be very special. As long as we don’t see I Am Legend, it will be a wonderful day! (We saw I Am Legend, on our first date, and I did not and still do not do scary movies. This is another one of our opposites. lol)
