Don’t you just hate when you think you saved money, and then life comes at you and laughs? Kind of like a sunshiny day, and then clouds start rolling in. Well, this just happened to me today. Let me go back and tell you the whole story.
Last week we (Benjamin and I) found out that our business insurance was increasing. Benjamin had called to ask if there was any way we could lower our insurance, jokes on us, because the answer was definitely no, and they informed us our rate was increasing in June. I should let you know that our business insurance is already extremely expensive. I immediately started looking around at other insurances.
I found some good quality insurance, and got the quote, success…much cheaper! I made all the necessary changes, and had Benjamin call our other insurance and cancel with them. So for one solid week, we are paying a nice rate for our insurance. Then today happened…clouds coming over my sunshine.
I got an email from a lady who works on our paperwork, stating that she needs a declaration page or, we’re going to be written up. In all honesty I had no clue we needed a declaration page, and really, it should be pretty easy to get one from our insurance company. WAIT, looking further down the email was the attachment of what was needed on the declaration page. Unfortunately I was pretty sure I didn’t have everything on that list.
I called my insurance, explained everything, and they said I might need to be transferred to their sister company. My rate is bound to go up, obviously more coverage is needed. If it ends up being too much I have to go back to the other insurance company. All this extra work I did to save money, and in the end, I don’t think we saved anything, instead we will be spending more. This is really upsetting, but hopefully I can laugh at what life throws at me.
I’m choosing to still see the sunshine through all these dark clouds.
