This is not a recipe that sits on the stove and cooks all day, this is for those days that are crazy and something simple and easy is what needs to be done for supper. The flavor is still great, especially when the cinnamon is added, it gives an extra depth that this recipe needs. This recipe can be changed to however you like: add some spinach, kale, sweet potatoes, whatever makes your heart go pitter patter! Can you tell that one day I really wanted chili, but didn’t want to wait for hours to eat it? Yeah, this is why I came up with this recipe.
Put pan on stove, turn heat to medium/high, add ground turkey and onions. (Yes I know there are no onions in this picture. I used onion powder, because I did not have an onion on hand, but adding the onion takes this dish to the next level of amazingness.)
Add salt and pepper, stir.
Cook until the meat is no longer pink, drain the excess liquid.
The can of diced tomatoes was too chunky for my liking, so I blended them.
I finely blended my diced tomatoes, it’s all about personal preference.
Add the beans. At this point add in anything else that makes chili tasty to you. Stir until all mixed in.
Next add the delicious spices: chili powder, garlic powder, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Stir, taste, and adjust seasonings accordingly. Continue to cook for about 10 minutes to let all the flavors marry together.
Serve in a bowl with crackers on the side. Enjoy!
