I realize this is a baking blog, but this is also my life blog, so enjoy this rabbit trail. lol For my hubby’s birthday this month my family and I pitched in to get him a new fryer.
Do you see that little fryer covered in disgusting grease? Yeah we have had that thing since we got married almost seven years ago. I have cleaned that little fryer so many times, and I could never get it clean. It has worked amazing since we’ve had it, but it’s just time to move on to something that can be cleaned well, and cook with clean oil every time. It filters the oil, so each use you can cook with clean oil…what a wonderful concept! Also you can put parts of it in the dishwasher…success!!! We now welcome the T-fal FR8000 Oil Filtration Ultimate EZ Clean Easy to clean 3.5-Liter Fry Basket Stainless Steel Immersion Deep Fryer, 2.6-Pound, Silver
Here is the fryer warming up the oil. It took 11 minutes to heat up fully. For this size I’m very pleased with 11 minutes.
It has a little notch on the side that holds up the basket so that you can place food (for us it’s always fries) in the basket without getting grease popping up everywhere.
Look at all that amazingness as the fries are going in to cook!
Now drop the basket fully in the oil…
And place the lid on top, so it can cook. This seems to be the only negative thing about this fryer is the fact that the lid is not hinged to anything on the fryer, you must completely take it off and place it on your counter top, or just hold it. But like I said that’s the only negative I have about this whole fryer.
I pulled the lid off to see how the fries were doing, and they are starting to float…yay it’s cooking, getting close to done.
Fries are done! They have a nice golden brown color to them, which is exactly what I was looking for. Total of about 3 minutes to cook them. I set them back on the notch to get the excess oil off of the fries and basket before pouring the fries onto a plate.
As soon as they hit the plate I salt the fries. This is what the fries look like ready to eat…but not for my hubby. He smothers them in cheese, heats in the microwave, dips in honey mustard dressing, and then he can enjoy them! A total of 13 minutes (minus adding the cheese and honey mustard) from start to finish. Yeah hubby and I think it’s incredible.
Just want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who pitched in, so he could have a birthday gift he actually needed! He loves this fryer; he’s the one who usually cooks his own fries, so this was a gift just for him! He was definitely surprised, and as many of you know I don’t keep secrets, so yes he did get to open this before his birthday…sorry.
