I’m notorious for losing things: my phone, kitchen hand cloth, my brain, and the jewels in my rings. Yes you read that right, not only do I lose the jewels, last time I even lost my entire engagement ring. That was a day of devastation!
I had just finished putting up all my product in Walmart, loaded up the trailer, and was about to head out, when I wiped my face, and the prongs where my diamond sits scratched my face. Of course that didn’t fell right, so I look at my ring, and the diamond was missing. I looked in the trailer, around the truck, and ran back into the store. I looked everywhere that I knew I had walked, which by the way I walk everywhere in this store, so I had a lot to check. I was on my hands and knees pretty much all over the store. My hubby, who was on his own route, reminded me over the phone that it’s going to be okay, because we have insurance, and they will put another diamond in there. I could not accept that, there is just something about having the original that makes it that much more special.
I ended up leaving the store with tears in my eyes, and no diamond. I went back to the store about four hours later to fix the bread and make it look good. When I get to the backroom where all my product is, low and behold, I look down, and right by my tire is something small and shiny…MY DIAMOND!!! I was ecstatic! But the story doesn’t end there…of course not…this is my life.
I get home and place my engagement ring and diamond in a plastic baggie, set it on the island, and go about my day. It was a really long day, so Hubby and I decided to take the ring in the next day to get it fixed. Nothing unusual about the night, did our nightly routine, take the trash out, take the dogs out, and go to bed. When we go to leave the house, the baggie my ring and diamond were in are now missing! We looked everywhere! Once again I’m in tears. Hubby looks in the trash can, that was waiting to be picked up today, and yeah you guessed it…I threw the baggie away. It was covered in gunk.
So after changing baggies, and hubby doing a deep clean of his hands and arms, he held on to the bag, until we got it to the jewelers. (Clearly I can’t be trusted with it.) After all that chaos, a couple weeks later I got my ring back, and we have been good since then.
Well now today I lost the jewel in a different ring. Kind of the same situation, realized it when I had left Walmart, went back in to look for it, on hands and knees again, except Hubby found it almost about 20 feet away from where I found my diamond a couple years ago. HOW EXCITING! We learned our lesson the first time, and as soon as we were done with work, we took the ring to the jeweler.
The jeweler looked at the ring and tells me the prongs are broken off. I looked at him and said, “I know! I bang my hands on things all day long, I’m very rough with my fingers.” He just got up and walked away. He clearly doesn’t realize that this ring attached to a box truck door and held me up for a couple seconds (Yes my feet were not even touching the ground.), it attaches to trays and drags me around, it pokes holes in bread, I slam it against metal all day long, and this ring just takes a lot of abuse from me. It’s an incredible ring!!!
Needles to say it will be three weeks till I can get it back, but I will have the original, and I’m super excited!
Hopefully I’m done losing the jewels in my rings, because the stress I go through is just intense. Anyone else have this problem with your jewelry or is it just me?
