Oh my goodness you guys! Yesterday I spent the day baking three different pecan pies. I’m trying to come up with my own recipe, so I can sell these to potential customers. But it can’t just be any recipe, I need this to be perfect. Let me add this…I do not like pecan pie, so I had some of my neighbors and my friends from small group try this, and tell me which one was their favorite. I know; I’m crazy! When all is said and done I do have a pie that was the winner, so know I just have to change it up to make it my own.
Pie #1: It was the most beautiful pie to me, the crust was cooked to a light golden brown, it cut perfectly, and just look at that slice, everything’s holding together beautifully! Made with honey and brown sugar.
Pie #2: Thanks to the half pecans, this pie was almost as beautiful as pie #1, but this was a heavier filling, the piece of pie came out in two pieces. Not so picture perfect. Made with dark corn syrup and brown sugar.
Pie #3: The crushed pecans just didn’t make this pie look pretty. The filling held together nicely, but the crust stuck to the pie pan. (I didn’t show that because I’m trying to get a picture perfect pie…sorry.) Made with light corn syrup and granulated sugar.
Thanks so my wonderful taste testers…Let me just do a shout out to them: THANK YOU! YOU GUYS ROCK! Okay, back to these pecan pies. Oh yes, thanks to my taste testers pie #3 came in first place! Tada! Also this pie is from The Pioneer Woman. So even though I don’t like the look of this pie, and I need to figure out how to make my crust not stick to the pan (I’m sure that’s due to the granulated sugar.), I’ll be perfecting this recipe to sell.
The one thing for sure that I’m changing is adding chopped pecans AND half pecans. This will take the look of this pie from ok to WOW! Plus there will be extra crunchiness throughout the pie.
For those of you who didn’t get to try it, which pie do you think looks the best?
