Today I made sugar cookies, and of course, if I have to flour my surface, I’m going to play in the flour. I recommend you always do this, it’s part of the joy of baking. I usually write in cursive, but I figured I’d change it up today. Yeah I really like my cursive better. Anyways back to the task at hand…Sugar Cookies! Sugar Cookies are great for any holiday, I used to just make them at Christmas, but I popped out of that little box. Onward to Sugar Cookies all year!
Combine all the dough ingredients in a mixer, and watch it come together beautifully! After it all comes together, place in the fridge so it can chill to make rolling it out easier.
Roll out the dough with a rolling pin, onto the floured surface. Roll it out to about 1/4 inch thick.
Once it’s rolled out, use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes, and then place on the cookie sheet.
I covered my cookie sheet with parchment paper, this makes it a lot easier to get the cookies off. Also side note, I ran out of non-stick spray, so this worked out perfect!
Once the cookies are baked, be sure you let them cool before frosting them. I was pretty sure I had taken pictures of making the frosting, but obviously I did not. That’s okay, just throw all the frosting ingredients into a mixer, and mix until smooth. That’s all there is to it. I started frosting each cookie completely, then decided to put the frosting in a piping bag, and spell out USA. It was much faster frosting the cookies this way! Thank goodness for that, because I had a lot of cookies to frost.
The good ol’ USA! So easy, yet means so much!
There you have it a plate of delicious sugar cookies! Don’t forget you can make these for any holiday, so be creative!
